The Book of Bob

Wednesday, March 8, 2006

Begins at 6:00 p.m.

Waldport writer Paul Chasman, author of “The Book of Bob,” will read from his work and sign copies of his book at the Driftwood Public Library, Wednesday, March 8 beginning at 6:00 p.m.

The Book of Bob has been hailed by critics as “laughing magic” and “a little masterpiece” and has prompted some to compare Chasman to Richard Brautigan.

Chasman is also known as the creator of “The Carl Letters,” a collection of “fan” letters written to George W. Bush under the pseudonym “Carl Estrada.” The first letter tells Bush how much the author likes the Dixie Chicks and suggests the President check them out. The second letter advises the most powerful man in that his lapel pin is crooked and may cost him his credibility if it remains unattended to. During the 2004 Presidential elections, Chasman devoted himself to writing the “Carl Letters,” which can now be found at www.thecarlletters.com .

The event at Driftwood will be free and open to the public. Driftwood Public Library is located on the second floor of the Lincoln City Civic Center at 801 SW Highway 101 (next to Price 'N Pride). This event will be held in the Distad Reading Room on the north end of the library. For information contact the Adult Services Coordinator, Ken Hobson, at 996-1242 or khobson@driftwoodlib.org..
