Toledo rings in the season with the "Hometown Holiday" celebration Saturday when organizations and businesses schedule special events all day, finishing with the Lighted Holiday Parade down Main Street and a Christmas Story Hour at Toledo Library.

The community celebration has been an annual event since 2000.

Events planned include a baked goods and candy sale at St. John's Episcopal Church, 110 NE Alder Street from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and open houses from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. at both Ivan Kelly Fine Art, 207 E. Graham Street, and Gallery Michael Gibbons, 140 NE Alder.

A Victorian High Tea will be held upstairs at the "Vicarage," home of Michael and Judy Gibbons, as a fundraiser for the Yaquina River Museum of Art. Seatings are by reservation; call 336-2797.

New business Toledo Bike and Skate at 192 S. Main will offer a free BMX bike and skateboard safety check from noon to 2 p.m. Next door, C & M Antiques will celebrate a move to this new location with a Christmas card workshop by scrapbooking expert Linda Tucker, who will show how to create cards using personal photos from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., and a wine tasting by Depoe Bay Winery from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Toledo Centennial History Center will hold a "Railroad Days" reception for the volunteers of Yaquina Pacific Railroad Historical Society and the community from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Community members are invited to sing carols around the piano with pianist Betty Roberts from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. while waiting for the holiday parade to begin. Christmas treats and hot beverages will be offered by the Toledo Centennial Committee volunteers. A "Christmas Store" at the center offers handcrafted gifts and holiday décor by local crafters for Christmas giving through Sunday, Dec. 18.

Nancy Lynne Photography at 173 NE Highway will offer photos with Santa from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Call 336-2606 for more information.

Santa will join the Lighted Holiday Parade, which assembles at Toledo Library at 4:30 p.m., with judging at 5 p.m. The parade begins at 5:30 p.m., traveling down A Street to Main via Highway 20. The parade is volunteer coordinated by employees of the Toledo office of the Central Lincoln PUD.
